Scrapbook containing clippings, announcements, cartes-de-visite, etc. on some pages while the rest are used as a letter book (1864?-1869?, 1939). Most of the correspondence is in shorthand. Materials mainly pertain to either the republication of his book The Glory and the Shame of England (New York: American News Co., 1866; and Bartram & Lester, 1866) or his marble coloring business. Pages at the beginning and end of the volume contain accounts related to the republication of his book. Includes a one-page typed biography/genealogy of Lester by Elizur Yale Smith, dated 3 April 1939, New York, N.Y.
